How Visafar works
Visafar answers one question: with the passport and documents you hold, where can you go on a short trip? This page explains where each answer comes from and how sure it is.

- Add what you holdA US, UK, Schengen, Canadian or Japanese visa, or a residence permit, can open countries your passport alone doesn't. Add expiry dates and Visafar checks each document is still valid on your travel date.

Where the answers come from
Your passport on its own
From the open Passport Index dataset (snapshot of February 2026). It is an aggregate compiled from many sources, not an official ruling, so these results are labelled Index data.
What your visas and permits add
From Visafar's own 53 unlock rules, each read against the government's own text. All 53 unlock rules have been checked line by line against their source, and 40 of them had an error we corrected. 24 cite the law or regulation they come from.
How sure each answer is
Every result carries one of four grades, so you can see how much to rely on it.
- Verified
- An official source was read and recorded for this route.
- Source-backed
- Checked against the cited source, but not fully confirmed on an official page. Confirm the details.
- Confirm first
- The source is secondary, time-limited or recently changed. Confirm with the authority before you travel.
- Index data
- Passport-alone status from the aggregate dataset, not an official ruling.
How the rules stay current
For 40 of the 53 rules, the official page is re-read automatically. When it changes, a person reviews the change before any rule is updated; nothing changes on its own. The other 13 cite pages that can't be read automatically (they block automated visits, have moved or fail to load), so they are re-checked by hand every 14 to 90 days, depending on how often they change.
Every correction is logged in What changed, and the date each rule was last read is on the data status page. If you hold a free account, you can also get an email when a rule you watch changes.

- It is not legal advice. The border officer and the airline make the final decision, and rules can change without notice.
- It never asks for passport numbers or document scans, and it doesn't apply for visas on your behalf.
